New Faregates with Easier Access
New faregates are being installed at stations throughout the MTA Metro Subway System. Please be patient during the installation process. If you experience any difficulties using these new travel tools, see the Station Manager. The new faregates will feature bi-parting leaves, replacing turnstiles and allowing easier access. This new feature will make it more convenient and accessible for all patrons to pass through the aisles without assistance. Additionally, with the installation of Touch & Go Ticket Centers, most types of magnetic Go Passes are available for purchase at Metro Subway Stations.
Expect the new faregate to capture your Single Trip ticket when you exit the system, and to capture your Round Trip ticket when you exit the system on your return trip.
Every effort is being made to minimize customer inconveniences during the installation period. If you experience any difficulty please see the Station Manager.
The picture above is an example of the new faregates.
