Baltimore-area college students can save $25 each month on the regular $64 Monthly Pass fare with the MTA College Pass!

The MTA College Pass is sold monthly and can be used for unlimited travel on MTA Local Bus, Light Rail, and Metro Subway.  Express Bus travel is also included for an additional $0.40 fee per trip.  Use of Commuter Buses (#s 310 through 420) require a larger zone fee. The College Pass can not be used on MARC Train Service (see Student Advantage program information for MARC discounts below).

The MTA College Pass Program allows students enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours per week (3 hours during the summer months and winter inter-session) at participating colleges, universities, or trade schools to purchase a monthly pass for just $39 per month.

In order to purchase a $39 College Pass, your school must first be enrolled into the program.  Please refer to the participation list below to confirm your school is a member of the program.  Passes are sold only on-site at paticipating schools.  Passes are not sold at the MTA Transit Store or MTA pass sales locations.  Note the college pass is a monthly pass.  There are no daily discount fares for college students.

Here is how the MTA College Pass program works:

Students must be taking a minimum of six credit or non-credit hours per week at the time of purchase to be eligible (three hours per week during summer months and winter inter-session).  If a student is not enrolled and not taking classes during the month of purchase then they cannot purchase a pass for that particular month.  During this time, a monthly pass at the $64 regular price can be purchased.

·         For technical or vocational schools, a student must be enrolled in a minimum of half-time (part-time) status at the time of purchase to be eligible.

Students not taking classes during a month, but enrolled in work-study or on-campus employment cannot purchase a pass during this period.  Remember, you must be enrolled in the required number of  weekly class hours during the month in which the pass is to be used.

Students MUST show a valid student ID and class schedule when purchasing a College Pass. Your school will require these items before a pass is issued, as your school is required to check current student status, as per the guidelines of this program.  A student may only purchase a pass for him or herself.  Passes cannot be purchased for family, friends, or other students.

Faculty, school staff, or school administration cannot purchase a $39 College pass.  They are not eligible to participate in the program.

A student ID must be shown at all times when riding MTA services, as MTA operators, station attendants, or MTA Police will request them.

Participating schools sell MTA College Passes on a monthly basis directly at the school (i.e., bookstore, cashier’s office, student union centers) during MTA pass sales dates (see monthly pass sale date here: http://www.mtamaryland.com/fares/passsalesoutlets/).  College passes are not sold at the MTA Transit Store or at MTA pass sales locations.

Eligible students can only purchase a monthly MTA College Pass at the school in which they attendOnce a school has sold its allotted passes for a particular month, there are no additional passes available.
