MTA Holiday Train Garden at Mondawmin Metro Station
Santa Claus will greet children and give out candy canes
Baltimore, MD (December 4, 2020) - The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites the public to the opening of its Subway City Holiday Train Garden at the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station on December 6, 2008.
The interactive train garden features a four-car subway train moving around a cityscape, platform, zoo, park, neighborhoods and a construction site. Kids young and old can experience the magic of the train garden and are encouraged to participate in the fun by pushing interactive buttons and watching objects move in the train garden. To make this year’s display more interesting, a car track, cars and more buildings have been added. Santa Claus will also pay a visit to Subway City this year to bring candy canes and extra holiday cheer.
The holiday display was designed and built by MTA Metro Subway employees on their own time with materials and time donated by the MTA and several contractors. MTA volunteers will be on hand to operate the trains in the garden on December 6th, 13th and 20th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The display is located on the Mezzanine Level of the Mondawmin Metro Station and is available for public viewing during normal Metro Subway operating hours.
